Starting from a common resolution, the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) and Indian National Productivity Council (NPC) outlined a program aiming to ensure a successful benchmarking study by following a well-defined process to identify performance gaps and further to enhance performance throughout the Indian society.

Objectives and approach

The broad purpose of this project was increasing productivity in India – New Delhi, and this is where The KPI Institute’s expertise intervened.  Within the Technical Expert Service (TES) Program on Development of Public & Service Measurement Systems, we developed a dual approach. Our objective was to strengthen the capability of the Indian National Productivity Council in gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in benchmarking research.

The KPI Institute’s Management Consultant, Malek Mohammed Odeh Ghazo, worked with APO towards fulfilling these objectives. Our approach was providing our partners practical insights for developing a benchmarking plan, along with aspects pertaining to the assessment of data collection and governance, data analysis process and benchmarking best practices;

Project insights

Tega Industries Limited, NSIC Bhawan, Okhla Industrial Estate, Delhi Jal Board, Hero Corporate Services, Central Manufacturing Technology Institute, Nishtha Law and the National Institute of Fashion Technology staff members participated in The KPI Institute’s benchmarking training course, beneficial to improving productivity and efficiency related issues. We aimed to upgrade their structural thinking and analytical competencies in alignment with the country’s need for productivity improvement.

“The topics of Benchmarking were disseminated by the expert and the level of the content was commensurate with the expectation of the participants. The methodology used was well appreciated: Case studies, Business Games and Role plays made participants very active during the workshop. All the topics were discussed in depth and the presentation manner and techniques were excellent.” said Binko Tirkey from the Indian National Productivity Council.

Over the last years, due to its involvement in numerous such projects of a great amplitude, The KPI Institute has become highly trusted by worldwide organizations, regardless of their industry or activity field, when it comes to their performance related issues.
