It’s Happening! The Strategy and Balanced Scorecard Conference in Kuala Lumpur

The Strategy and Balanced Scorecard Conference provided today, May 25th, insights, solutions and business best practices in strategic implementations, from some of the most experienced strategy and performance professionals.

The conference was inaugurated with a welcome introductory by Aurel Brudan, the Chief Executive Officer at The KPI Institute.

The first day materialized in a succession of presentations facilitated by forward thinking experts, panel discussions and a round table session engaging speakers and delegates in interactive discussions on strategy techniques and the best practices.

After the conference introduction, Mr. Kim Warren, Director at Strategy Dynamics,  began by introducing the first keynote presentation, Engineering the Enterprise with Strategy Dynamics, where he touched upon subjects like developing working quantified models that replicate how organisational performance changes over time, modeling enterprises as “designed systems” to link investments to product development and capacity growth and using KPIs and balanced scorecard measures to automate strategic decision-making.

Following this presentation, Mr. E. Long Chua, SVP, Project Director – Strategy & Transformation at AXA Affin General Insurance, presented “Executing strategies – main challenges & solutions” this session focused on how to report and monitor strategy execution, strategic analysis and strategic decisions and best practices in implementing a strategy.

The next key-note session,Strategy and transformation in building a digital economy” comprised a case study of Digital Malaysia, that was explained by Mr. Raja Segaran, Head of Consulting – Corporate Strategy Division, at Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation.

Following the presentations, our speakers and delegates engaged in a Panel Discussion “Rethinking the strategy role – data, modelling and agile” gathered names like Aurel Brudan, Dr. Ben Kok Wai Chong, Raja Segaran and Kah Cheng Lim.

The Panel Discussion was followed by two engaging presentations:Strategy and innovation” by Rafiza Ghazali, Senior Vice President at Sime Darby Berhad and “Best practice strategy management” by Kah Cheng Lim, Chief of Corporate Services at Human Resources Development Fund, Malaysia.

The conference day ended with a Round Table about the ongoing challenges that a strategy professional is facing and the complexity of their job.
